Outreach is happening! Free yard cleanups, Poetry on Pearl, and building homes are just a few of the great things that are taking place.
Chi Alpha is reaching university students—who are showing up again in just a month—with the message of Jesus. Please keep this dynamic ministry in your prayers.
Our monthly prayer walks to cover Boulder in prayer, seeking God’s guidance and blessing for our city. Come walk and pray with others.
Thank you for being part of the Belay family. Let’s make this summer a season of belonging, believing, becoming, and belaying.
Belay on!
Paul Durbin, Pastor
WHEN: Friday-Sunday, August 2-4
WHERE: Hopi Campground, Snow Mountain Ranch, YMCA of the Rockies (near Grandby)
Please register by Sunday, July 28 to ensure a spot.
Belay’s desire is for our church body to be God’s hands and feet in the Boulder community. Here is a look back at projects from the past couple months, as well as a look ahead to upcoming events.
Looking back
Yard Busters: Greg has lead this program which provides yard and garden clean up. The team helped two of our senior neighbors this Spring and have maintained relationships with both individuals.
Poems on Pearl: This ministry reaches community members on Pearl Street by sharing meaningful poetry, and is lead by Janice. One local asked, “How did you know?” as he read his poem that was written specifically for him. Jesus is touching hearts on Pearl!
Habitat for Humanity: Several Belayers rolled up their sleeves and got to work on June 1! This was a great way to meet others and serve together as a church community. Big thanks to Nicole for leading this opportunity!
Looking ahead
7/20: Yard Busters! Meet and serve one of our senior neighbors. Contact Greg for details.
7/31: Poems on Pearl at 4pm. You do not need to write poems to join. Come and interact or just pray as others interact! Contact Janice for details.
8/24: Table Outreach at the Boulder Farmers Market. Contact Jing for details.
*If you have an idea for an additional outreach that you’d be passionate about leading, please contact Sarah, Outreach Coordinator.
Chi Alpha, the college ministry that Belay partners with, had an eventful Spring. From March 24-29, staff led a group of students on a prayer and vision trip to the Middle East.
In late April, the Chi Alpha staff also attended a discipleship training retreat, where they learned about key resources for students and how to better serve the CU Boulder campus.
Patty has enjoyed meeting with just a few individuals at a time for our monthly prayer walks. Prayer walks occur every second Wednesday of the month at 8am, and every fourth Wednesday of the month at 7pm.
Patty said, “It’s been a great way to consider the needs of our town and the different neighborhoods as well as build relationships. It also puts us in a position to maybe run into people who the Lord would like us to interact with. If you can’t make it you sure could form your own group that works better for your own schedule. It’s just walking and praying with a friend!”
July prayer walks are halfway over. The first took place at Boulder School of Integrated Studies on the 10th. Join for the second prayer walk of the month at Lovers Hill Park on Wednesday, July 24 at 7pm.
